Middle School Dance

My hands are so clammy right now
It is so funny to me how
This is just like the movies
I wish I my life was a movie
I never know what to say
I never know where to put my hands when I’m talking to you
Can you check my braces for food?
None of us know what we’re doing
But that’s okay
So please just tell me what to say
This is so much easier on the phone
None of us know what we’re doing and that’s okay
I kinda think it’s better that way
I still wish that I was safe at home
I see all these confident kids
Who think they’re too cool for this
But we all know the sad truth
They’re really not that much cooler than you
They wear their expensive clothes
They’re only 13 but they act like they’re grown
But we all know the sad truth
They’re gonna miss their thrown away youth
None of them know what they’re doing
But they just fake a smile
'Cause popularity lasts for a while
It’s better to kill than to be killed
None of them know what they’re doing but they pretend that they do
Cause they’re so much cooler than you
And they’re having so much more fun too
Nobody knows what they’re doing at a middle school dance
It’s a scandal if you hold someone’s hands
Nothing ever goes according to plan
So let’s all have fun cause we’re so young
And we haven’t got a clue
So why don’t you just dance and let loose
Even if you look dumb while you do
'Cause everyone is just as dumb as you

Cardboard Walls
03:13
|
|||
We live in our tiny house
We do not pay attention to the ones who call us out
We think about the things we wanna think about
We have our own rules that we follow without a doubt
They live in their big shiny house
They do not listen when the little people cry out
They think about the things they wanna think about
They have their own rules that they make and break and move around
Pieces of paper, decide what they are worth
Pieces of plastic, are what will be left of the earth
Pieces of cardboard, stomped on by some strangers
Pieces of silver, protect them from their dangers
Some people want to move up or down
But they do not know that once you’re in you can’t get out
People know where you’ve been and the things you’ve thought about
They know what rules you’ve broken and the lies you’ve spread all over town
The voices of people who live through it all
Do not get their voices heard through the thick shiny walls
Covered in jewelry are the ones who make the laws
Covered in bruises we can’t pay for what we’ve bought
The voices of people who live through it all
Will never get their voices heard when they’re in their paper homes
Covered in jewelry are the ones who make the laws
Covered in paper cuts we can not pay for what we’ve bought
Trapped inside these cardboard walls
Why would you wanna move away
They’ve got so many fun games to distract you from the way they play
While you are here you might as well have some fun
So get in this cardboard box and you’ll play until you think you’ve won

Never Be the Same
02:14
|
|||
You never thought I would care
But I did
Your words cut like knives
Now you’re scared
Of what comes next
You
And now you’ll never be the same
And now we’ll never be the same
You never thought I would care
But I did
So now I quit
Thought you could get away with it
Well you have no idea who I am
And now I’ll never be the same
And now we’ll never be the same
And I know someday you will try again
And I know someday you will try

Rumor of Sunshine
03:06
|
|||
5:45 the time of summer sunrise
The time our dreams say goodnight for the day
9:45 I’ll never sleep until I die
The moon still shines when darkness fades away
I heard a rumor that the sun would shine today
But when I looked outside the sky was a moody dark grey
With a pencil in my hand and a sad song in my head
The rumor turns over many times but it still won’t go to bed
Again
10 million bombs circle around the sun
Who said hate could never hurt anyone
But look at me I’m as happy as can be
The bombs won’t hurt me I’m free
Hopefully
I heard a rumor that the sun would shine all the way to the floor
The clouds would go away, they wouldn’t hurt anyone anymore
Bomb shells in their hands
They look up to the sun
Pretending it was good and it wouldn’t hurt anyone
12:45 a brand new sun has arrived
A sun that won’t terrorize it’s rays
1:45 I still don’t sleep but I know I won’t die
The rumor was true but only for some days
Someday
